A lot of folks don't really seem to understand how to age their character according to their rankings. So, I am here to help. I will also be listing a few rules here that are primarily age-based.
More Detailed Information.
Apprentices
We all know that kits become apprentices at 6 moons old, but what a lot of people don't know is the age that apprentices graduate at. A lot of folks tend to have warriors younger than the age of graduation, so this is a quick fix for those who could be confused about it.
Apprentices normally graduate between 12-16 moons. Which is 1 year to about 1 year and 3 months. Yes, your apprentice could graduate later in life if they have had any dilemmas such as not learning as they should, sickness, injuries, mentor dying, etc.
Most apprentices would graduate at 16 moons, wih 12 moons being the youngest.
Warriors
Warriors begin anew at normally 16 moons old, they are fresh out of the apprentice den and ready to work hard. Most cats are eager to gain their own apprentice, but no leader would give such a fresh warrior such a strong responsibility while they are still learning.
Around 24 moons old would a young warrior get his or her first taste of mentorship, if they have the patience for it. These cats will train an apprentice for the next 6-10 moons.
A young warrior will begin to mellow out and become settled into their duties and personality around 36 moons. They would be in their prime and ready for much of everything, including their own apprentice's antics, if they have one.
The middle-aged or average-aged warrior would be around 48-60 moons old. They have tons of experience now and would most likely have younger warriors coming to them for advice and help on certain duties or projects.
A Warrior would only become a Senior Warrior around the ages of 96-108 moons. They have the most respect and are usually there to help advise their leader and deputy. Some call Senior Warriors the "Advising Council" for the leader.
At 120 moons or older, a Senior warrior will begin slowing down and having issues keeping up with the everyday tasks. Normally, the warrior will be thinking about or will be retiring to the elder's den.
At 144 moons and up, this Warrior is no longer a active warrior. He/she is now a elder and is peacefully living out the remainder of their life.
Deputies
Deputies are often older Warriors and it is looked down upon to recruit a young, fresh warrior as a deputy. As we know, deputies must have mentorship skills.
Naturally, most deputies are chosen from this particular age group;
48 moons at the youngest and 84-96 moons at the oldest. No cat BELOW that age should EVER be allowed a deputy position unless the leader and clan may be looked at as if they are completely reckless. As cats that age would not have the experience needed to advise their leader, clan members let alone possibly having an apprentice.
Medicine Cats
Medicine cats typically follow the same age guidelines as apprentices/warriors.
Queens
Queens, ah, the lovely mothers of the clan. But, not always. Some are ferocious beasts who would rip your eyes out if you touched a hair on their kits! Nonetheless, the average age for cats to become queens and to healthily deliver more kits at are;
24 Moons at the youngest. Yes, Apprentices can become Warriors at 16 moons, but they are brand new to the world of being a Warrior and I'd doubt that they'd settle down and have kits immediately after their ceremony.
and for health-wise, it'd be best not to have kits over the age of 96 moons, as there is risk of stillborn kits, death of the mother and so on.
Leaders
The leader of the clan must not be too young, too fresh nor reckless. It is a heavy burden of a job that normally settles on a cat whose had a few burdens already.
Cats of experienced ages are normally elected deputy or leader, but a lot of deputies retire before their leader either retires or dies. So the age of a leader can vary greatly, but they are never young.
Most cats appointed leader are normally around 60-84 moons at the youngest. Any cat of ages above this can become a leader so long as they have the position too, of course. It is not recommended to have a cat above 120 moons become leader, as it would be quite the short-lived leadership, but heck, there is no way you can be too old to become a leader, well, unless you are 180 moons. You may die before you get to the Moonstone.
AGE RULES:
As promised, I am posting some rules for things I DO NOT want to see on the forums...Such as,
Pregnant Apprentices. If I see one, you will be heavily warned and asked to get rid of the pregnancy. If you do not comply you may be kicked, banned, etc.
Super-young warriors, deputies, leaders and medicine cats.
As explained above, no warrior should be below 13-16 moons, no deputy should be younger than 48 moons and no leader younger than 60 moons. For medicine cats, I would follow the same age lines as Warriors.
Cats living above 180 Moons. I'm sorry, its difficult for a indoor cat to live past 15 years of age. So naturally, if your character survives to that age or beyond that, he or she will need to go to Starclan very very soon or right now.
